Med hjelp fra lokale foretak satt vi opp utstillinger med kunst produsert i Tr\u00f8ndelag som stort sett kunne sees fra fortauet. Kunst og kultur er verdifullt, ogs\u00e5 i krisetid, og med dette prosjektet \u00f8nsket vi \u00e5 tilby en fysisk kulturopplevelse for de som bevegde seg i byen, uten \u00e5 \u00f8ke smittefaren for publikum.\u00a0<br><br>Vi vil gjerne takke de foretakene som var med p\u00e5 samarbeidet og kunstnerne som fortsatte \u00e5 arbeidere i denne usikre tiden og \u00f8nsker alle lykke til i tiden som kommer. Ta vare p\u00e5 hverandre!<br><br>Prosjektet er st\u00f8ttet av Trondheim Kommune, SpareBank1 SMN og Kulturr\u00e5det.<br><br>\/<br><br>\u2018Vinduene\u2019 (the windows) was a series of window exhibitions happening in Trondheim. With help from local businesses, we set up exhibitions that could usually be seen from the sidewalk, with art produced in Tr\u00f8ndelag. Arts and culture become even more important in times of crisis. Our project offered a safe cultural experience for those who were moving around in the city, without increasing the risk of infection.<br><br>We want to especially thank the different businesses that accepted the challenge and the artists that kept working in these difficult times. Hva betyr det \u00e5 komme til sin rett? Er det fair overfor kunsten \u00e5 vise den i en ny og uvant setting?<br><br> Vinduene viser kunst som tar plass i byrommet, og tar denne plassen med en slentrende selvf\u00f8lgelighet. Dette er forfriskende og ofte noks\u00e5 frav\u00e6rende n\u00e5r kunst skal vises og forh\u00e5pentligvis omsettes. Det er en fare for at kunsten i Vinduene blir en irritasjon, at den oppleves som feilplassert, ute av kontekst. Men konteksten er vanligvis ganske tr\u00f8tt: Kunsten treffes som regel der kunsten er trygg: I et galleri, i et museum eller p\u00e5 en sokkel. Kanskje over en sofa. Vi er vante til \u00e5 m\u00f8te kunsten som vane, eller som ritual. Kanskje kan det v\u00e6re en \u00f8ye\u00e5pner \u00e5 treffe kunst der man vanligvis treffer en reklameplakat eller en generisk lampe i et utstillingsvindu.&nbsp;<br><br> Det er en kognitiv feilslutning at glass er usynlig. Bare g\u00e5 til arkitektstanden, og se hvordan de renderer glassfasader som glir i ett med den skyfrie himmelen. All that is solid melts into air. Noen som husker hvordan den gr\u00e5 klossen som er bes\u00f8kssenteret foran Nidarosdomen ble presentert? Med glass b\u00e5de foran og bak skulle det knapt vises der foran nasjonalhelligdommen. Det ble ikke helt slik.<br><br> Vinduer er langt fra usynlige. Det er refleksjoner i glasset, skitt, lysbrytninger og s\u00e5 videre. Vinduet viser frem, men det tilf\u00f8rer ogs\u00e5 noe. En forstyrrelse, en begrensning, en barrikade, vinduet understreker at man st\u00e5r i et annet rom, i dette tilfellet et annet rom enn kunsten. Den er der inne, jeg er her ute. Understreker monteringen det mange f\u00f8ler, at kunst er noe fremmed og utiln\u00e6rmelig, noe man ikke <em>kan<\/em> forst\u00e5?<br><br> Det er ikke tilfeldig at et grep som Vinduene kommer fra noen som Sl\u00e5 P\u00e5 Kunst. Tiltaket er noks\u00e5 ungt, og har ikke satt seg fast i en avgrenset nisje i kunstmarkedet. Det er ogs\u00e5 et konsept som av natur er ute etter \u00e5 utfordre forventningene til publikum om hvor kunst kan p\u00e5treffes. N\u00e5 skal jeg v\u00e6re forsiktig med \u00e5 skj\u00f8nnmale den friheten man har som liten &#8211; det er ogs\u00e5 et maktperspektiv i dette, og en fortelling om \u00f8konomiske muskler og de mulighetene det gir. Sl\u00e5 P\u00e5 Kunst har likevel noen fordeler andre gallerier eller visningssteder for kunst ikke har, n\u00e5r de ikke har et visningssted. Det gir en frihet, og et man\u00f8vreringsrom til \u00e5 gj\u00f8re eksperimenter og teste grep som Vinduene.<br><br> Vinduene springer ut av det faktum at verden plutselig sto med begge st\u00f8vlene plantet i en pandemi, noe som f\u00f8rte til at store deler av samfunnet ble stengt ned. Konsekvensene var enorme, og i skrivende stund er det enda umulig \u00e5 si hvor omseggripende effektene blir i form av konkurser, karrierer som stopper opp, prosjekter som blir avlyst, osv. Og enda aner vi ikke hvor det ender. I det lys er Vinduene herlig optimistisk, og nesten litt frekt: Ja, s\u00e5 museene og galleriene er stengt ned. Hva gj\u00f8r vi s\u00e5? Vi viser kunst der folk g\u00e5r og gir dem sjansen til \u00e5 snuble over den. Vi setter oddsene p\u00e5 serendipitet, rett og slett. Det var flere kulturfolk som fant nye veier i april\/mai 2020, i l\u00f8pet av f\u00e5 uker satt musikere og scenekunstnere og str\u00f8mmet kunsten sin rett hjem til folk, s\u00e5nn at dataskjermene ble vinduer ut til publikum de ogs\u00e5. Men Vinduene til Sl\u00e5 P\u00e5 Kunst har en klar fordel over skjermene: Det er fortsatt det fysiske verket man m\u00f8ter, om det s\u00e5 er et glass mellom.<br><br>\/<br><br><strong>Can you see through the window?<\/strong><br>By Jon-Arild Johansen<br><strong> <\/strong><br>When does art really come into its own? What does it mean to come into your own? Is it fair to show the art in a new and unknown setting?&nbsp;<br><br> \u2018Vinduene\u2019 shows art taking space in the city, and takes this space with a slauntering self-evidence. This is refreshing and often absent when art is shown, and hopefully traded. There is, of course, a risk of the art in \u2018Vinduene\u2019 being an annoyance, that it is received as misplaced, out of context. But the context is often quite exhausted. The art is usually met where it is safe: in a gallery, a museum or on a plinth. Maybe above a sofa. We are used to meeting the art as habit, or ritual. Maybe it can be an eye opener to meet the art where you usually see a commercial poster or a generic lamp in an exhibition window.&nbsp;<br><br> It is a cognitive failure that glass is transparent. Just look at the architects, and how they render glass facades gliding into the cloudless sky.<em> All that is solid melts into air<\/em>. Does anyone remember how that grey block acting as the visiting centre in front of the Nidaros Cathedral was presented? With glass on both ends it would barely show in front of the national treasure. It didn\u2019t quite turn out like that.&nbsp;<br><br> Windows are far from invisible. There are reflections in the glass, dirt, refractions and so on. Windows showcase, but they also add something. A disturbance, a limitation, a barricade, the window emphasizes that you are in a different room, in this case a different room than the art. It is in there, and I am out here. Does the installation also emphasize what a lot of people feel, that art is something foreign and unapproachable, something you <em>can\u2019t<\/em> understand?<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br> It\u2019s not a coincidence that something like \u2018Vinduene\u2019 comes from someone like Sl\u00e5 P\u00e5 Kunst. The initiative is quite young, and isn\u2019t yet stuck in a defined niche in the art market. It is also a concept that by nature seeks to challenge the audience\u2019s expectations on where to meet art. Well, I should be careful to glorify the freedom you have when you\u2019re small &#8211; there is also a power perspective in this, and a story of economical muscles and the opportunities that give. Sl\u00e5 P\u00e5 Kunst still has some advantages other galleries and art spaces lack by not having a permanent space. It gives a certain room to maneuver, a freedom to experiment and test projects like \u2018Vinduene\u2019.<br><br> \u2018Vinduene\u2019 arises from the fact that suddenly the world stood still with both feet well planted in a pandemic, meaning that large parts of society was closed down. The consequences were huge, and at this moment it is still impossible to say how rampant the effects will be with bankruptcies, careers that come to a halt, cancelled projects etc. And we still have no idea where it will end. In this light \u2018Vinduene\u2019 is delightfully optimistic, and even a bit cheeky: okay, the museums and galleries are all closed. What do we do? We show art where people move and give them a chance to stumble over it. We simply put the odds on serendipity. There were several cultural people who found new paths in April and May 2020, in the course of a few weeks musicians and performing artists streamed their art straight into peoples homes, turning the computer screens into windows for the audience. But Sl\u00e5 P\u00e5 Kunst\u2019s project \u2018Vinduene\u2019 has an obvious advantage over the screens: It is still the physical object you meet, even if there is glass
